Virtual reality is starting to play a large role in the training of the next generation of medical professionals. Qualcomm has created a VR training tool that can help doctors diagnose a stroke.

The application is called Think F.A.S.T, and was developed to help teach the symptoms of a stroke to medical professionals while in a virtual environment. It will make the professional feel like they are in the app as the actual person interacting with the patient. Motion tracking and voice tracking in the headset prototype will allow for an even more realistic interaction. The VR experience will walk the professional through the process of diagnosing a stroke, one step at a time.  

While VR simulation is not a replacement for real medical training on actual patients, it has the potential to be a great tool for education and for reaching underserved communities around the world.
