Load emulator for photovoltaic inverter anti-islanding test

The work is about the implementation of the control of an AC-DC-AC converter to realize a load emulator in accordance with the EN61126 standard "Test procedure of islanding prevention measures"

The Purpose

The main objective of the project is to realize a normative test bench for photovoltaic inverters connected to the main utility grid. The test bench can either include variable RLC loads for the anti-islanding test or be replaced by a load emulator with the desired precision. Simulations of the electrical system have been conducted with the software PSIM.

The Technology

The technology used is the vectoriel control of power electronic converters in order to make the system draw a power as closed as possible from references. The drawn power is then sent back to the power grid instead of wasting it in resistors, through a regeneration process. The back-to-back converter used for that purpose can also serve to connect wind power to power grid.
