Mark - Electromayography based Robotic Claw

MAKERS: Moiz COUNTRY: Pakistan

Today 15% of world population is have disability of some form. To fight this problem we developed Mark II a low cost solution for prosthetic and EMG analysis.

The Purpose

The purpose of this project is to provide a low cost solution for the development of prosthetic and EMG analysis to fight disability and diseases like Parkinson's. Today 1 billion people are suffering from disability. Today we have various solutions available but are not in range of people of underdeveloped countries. To fight this problem, to fight for billions of people we developed Mark II and we want to take it further and this would be only possible with IEEE because we advance technology for humanity.

The Technology

This project is based on Electromayography which is analysis of waves generated from muscles during muscle movements. EMG are waves are widely employed to analyze behavior of muscles and we can use EMG for development of prosthetic. We developed a circuitry with which we extract waves from the muscles and then we have processed those waves with processor and decoded complex muscle waves to develop prosthetic clamp. By combining multiple sensors we can decode several movements and hence can build complete arm. The algorithm is based on machine learning.

Additional Details

This project can not only solve problems that 1 billion disable persons facing reliably and efficiently but it can also serve as a solution for analysis of muscle movement for the cure of severe diseases like Parkinson's. Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease each year, and this number does not reflect the thousands of cases that go undetected and this is just for America. We can even solve this problem with Mark and this is our aim.
