Quadcopter based human Detection using PIR sensor

This Seminar focused on development of a remotely operated Quadcopter system. The Quadcopter is controlled through wireless remote. Communication between remote and Quadcopter is done by using wireless communication system. The Quadcopter balancing condition is sensed by arduino microcontroller and IMU DOF sensor. All signals from sensors are processed by Arduino Uno microcontroller board. Output from Arduino microcontroller board used to control Quadcopter propellers. The experiment shows that Quadcopter can hover with maintain it balancing and stability. Maximum operated time of Quadcopter uses 2200mAh Lipo battery and operate time can be increase by using largest battery capacity. BLDC motor is interfaced with microcontroller through ESC(Electronic Speed Controller). Motor speed can be controlled by changing pulse width of signal. Human detection can be done using PIR sensor.

 

The Purpose

Detect live human body in earthquake situation Hence many lives can be saved by using this autonomous vehicle during an earthquake disaster in a short duration which becomes time consuming and unaffected if done manually. Quadcopter - Unmanned Arial Vehicle are used for surveillance and reconnaissance by military and law enforcement agencies, as well as search and rescue missions in urban environments.

The Technology

The module actually consists of a Pyroelectric sensor which generates energy when exposed to heat. That means when a human or animal body will get in the range of the sensor it will detect a movement because the human or animal body emits heat energy in a form of infrared radiation. That?s where the name of the sensor comes from, a Passive Infra-Red sensor

In military applications to detect the presence of human being In rescue operations where human reach is impossible. In disaster management. This equipment can be used at mines, earthquake prone place. The development of Quadcopter is a challenging task. One of the most basic problems is how to enable to detect humans by Quadcopter. In this Seminar, when a human or animal body will get in the range of the sensor it will detect a movement because the human or animal body emits heat energy in a form of infrared radiation. That?s where the name of the sensor comes from, a Passive Infra-Red sensor. An heat radiation detection method is performed to detect human body objects, and to process them further in order to send some command signal to server which included human body is live or not, via Quadcopter. The purpose of the proposed system is to provide a cost effective robot for rescuing human beings in catastrophic conditions. The proposed system is superior to other existing robots due to the use of sensors that are cheaper and easily available.
