Q: What inspired you to become an engineer? Were you always interested in technology? If so, why? If not, when did you become interested and why?

A: First it was Legos; no doubt! As a 5-year old, I loved building things out of Legos with my dad or on my own. Later when I was 11, it was Commodore 64. I loved video games and wanted to build my own video games, so I learned computer programming, computer graphics and sounds, etc., skills that I’m still using today both in my industry work and in the courses I teach as a university professor. I guess you could say that I was always interested in building stuff that do “cool” things, and in technology in general, which led me to engineering.
