Q: What inspired you to become an engineer?

A: When I moved to California, I started taking electrical engineering courses through Stanford on closed-circuit TV as a non-credit student. I really enjoyed the classes and thought, this is a way to use my math skills in a very fun way. I applied to Stanford for a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and eventually got a Ph.D. there in communications engineering. I love the mix of signal processing, statistics, probability and real-world constraints one finds in communications engineering.
