What advice would you give to young technologists on how to get the most of the IEEE membership experience?

My advice to young technologists is to take full advantage of the many opportunities IEEE offers to advance their careers. In particular, I see three key benefits: gaining a deeper and broader understanding of technology, developing valuable leadership experience and expanding their professional network with key industry contacts.

What’s the hottest technology in the next 10 years?

In the field of power systems, several disruptive technologies are emerging. Two in particular include the increasing integration of inverter-based resources and the virtualization of protection, automation and control systems. The first is transforming the very dynamics of power system operation, while the second is reshaping how utilities and companies approach maintenance, asset management and operational strategies.
