How has IEEE helped you in your career journey?

IEEE has been very instrumental in my career by providing a platform for leadership, networking and scholarly contributions. Serving as an IEEE Computer Society past Chair and current Treasurer for the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Chapter enhanced my organizational and community-building skills. IEEE publications and conferences allowed me to disseminate research, gain credibility and collaborate globally. The Society’s resources supported my continuous learning in AI, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. Additionally, IEEE’s prestigious reputation bolstered my roles in editorial boards, peer review and academic advisory positions, accelerating my transition from practitioner to thought leader.

What’s keeping you busy these days?

Currently, I am immersed in AI-driven cybersecurity research, federated learning applications, data analytics and ethical AI governance. I am also actively engaged in academic mentorship, editorial responsibilities for multiple journals and leading IEEE community initiatives. What intrigues me is the intersection of explainable AI and cybersecurity, especially the development of interpretable models for threat detection and smart contract vulnerabilities. I’m also exploring human-AI collaboration in agile software development and the ethical implications of AI in data privacy.
