How is machine learning different from artificial intelligence?

Machine learning is one of the technologies used to build artificially intelligent systems. It is a subset or type of artificial intelligence. AI is responsible for making systems that can exhibit intelligence, mimic, or at times outperform human cognition, whereas machine learning on the other hand is concerned only with processing data and building application-specific algorithms to build models that can “learn.”
