How can natural language processing be used in healthcare?

Natural language processing (NLP) can help interpret the verbal statements of patients’ chief complaints and use the responses to ask the next set of relevant questions. Doctors can use NLP to summarize their patient exams, with the information fed into machine learning algorithms to help discover trends or connections among symptoms against the patient’s history and other accumulated learned medical knowledge.
