Q: What inspired you to become an engineer? Were you always interested in technology? If so, why? If not, when did you become interested and why?
A: Growing up I always enjoyed building toys with old mechanical parts, small motors, electric bulbs and batteries – this is where I first became interested in mechanical engineering.
Additionally, I still remember clearly when my father told me that astronauts should be electronic engineers. This further influenced my interest in engineering, as astronauts were heroes to me during the 1970s.
