Q: Were you always interested in technology?

A: I was always interested in technology, but began my education as pre-med. I took a computer science course as an elective and became fascinated with the material. I specialized in AI in graduate school and eventually moved into interdisciplinary research as a faculty member at USC, focusing on the intersection of AI and human emotion (a field known as affective computing).
