Artificial Intelligence has been explored in all genres of film over the years. The depictions range from impossible and out of reach, to accessible technology that we have now or could use in the future. Jay Iorio, futurist and Innovations Director for the  IEEE  Standards Association, sat down with Cinefix to talk about Artificial Intelligence on screen. He explains how real and possible each of the AI is in films like “Her,” “Blade Runner,” Ex Machina,” “Terminator,” “West World,” and others.

Hollywood has created an entire genre of films about AI. Films and shows have explored characters that are human-like and have consciousness created by algorithms and deep learning, making them hard to distinguish from real people.
